Model Overview
The 2020 Crosstrek is available in three trim levels: Base, Premium and Limited. All Crosstreks are equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder boxer engine making 152 horsepower. This engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT). The CVT transmission comes standard in the Limited trim. Both drivetrains come standard with all-wheel-drive, a specialty of Subaru, including Active Torque Vectoring providing improved handling and performance.

Subaru makes sure the Crosstrek is well-equipped, with its base model seeing a host of standard features. The base model includes 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, rear view camera, a multi-function driver's display, cloth interior, faux carbon fiber interior trim and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With a small step up in price, the Premium model adds significantly to the list of standard equipment. The Premium adds heated front seats, heated mirrors, automatic headlights, cargo shade, fog lights and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter.

Drivers looking at the top-of-the-line Limited model will get even more. The standard features of the Limited include leather seats with a power driver's seat, Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and ignition, a 6.3-inch multi-function driver's display, an 8.0-inch infotainment system display and adaptive LED headlights. Additionally, the Limited comes standard with the CVT transmission.

Subaru also offers several optional features that buyers will find desirable. Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist is an option on the Base and Premium models, which includes forward facing cameras with collision warning, automatic braking, lane keeping assist and optimizes cruise control. Additional options include a moonroof, a Harman Kardon premium audio system and remote engine start.

Subaru has taken particular care with the safety features of the Crosstrek. It has all the standard electronic safety features including traction control, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, rearview camera and stability control. A full suite of airbags come standard on all Crosstrek trims. The front airbags are dual-stage and include a mechanism to detect how close the driver is sitting to the steering wheel, delaying airbag deployment accordingly. With all the safety features Subaru has included in the Crosstrek, it has earned a top pick with IIHS and an overall 5-stars with NHTSA.

Model Changes
The Subaru Crosstrek returns for 2020 with only a few additions. A new LED headlight and LED fog light design (available on Limited trim vehicles) add flare to the front end while gasoline powered Crosstreks equipped with CVT transmissions get an engine start/stop feature. Subaru's SI-DRIVE system is added with this transmission allowing for adjustable drive modes and new safety features for all trims like automatic locking and a collision detection system that unlocks doors in the event of an incident have also been added.
